Overview of Project Planning and Tracking provides a solid foundation in the basic techniques and tools for planning, scheduling and monitoring projects. Participants learn the basic principles and terminology of project management with an emphasis on how to make and meet rational schedule commitments. In-class exercises allow participants to apply techniques and tools to a sample project.
MAJOR COURSE OBJECTIVES
The course is designed to enable participants to:
- Determine requirements and identify the scope of work
- Break down work into activities and tasks (WBS)
- Create Project Charter requirements
- Plan the sequence of activities and tasks
- Establish Critical Path or duration of the project
- Determine required resources
- Learn basic project management vocabulary
RECOMMENDED FORMAT
Interactive workshop that allows participants to experience “best practices” of project management. Recommend maximum of 30 participants and a minimum of 10 participants.

Individuals who currently or who will work on projects; department heads and team leaders who wish to implement planning and control processes; and those new to teams and project activity.
